The upcoming edition of the Toward the Terra film, which is scheduled for release on November 25, 2008, will feature remastered video footage from its 2007 Japanese DVD release, Japanese audio and English-language subtitles.

This motion picture adaptation of Keiko Takemiya’s ground-breaking manga was produced by Toei Animation (Captain Harlock, Dragon Ball / Dragon Ball Z, Galaxy Express 999) and is a forerunner to the Toward the Terra television series, released in North America by Bandai Entertainment.

Takemiya’s original manga, known as To Terra… (Terra e…), won both the prestigious Seiun Award for science-fiction manga and the Shogakukan Manga Award. It is published for English-speaking audiences by Vertical, Inc.

In the future, mankind’s seemingly utopian society is strictly controlled by the government, and anything that threatens to disrupt the status quo is ruthlessly suppressed.
