FUNimation to distribute TOKYOPOP DVDs

FUNimation Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation (Nasdaq: NAVR), today announced that it has acquired exclusive North American distribution rights for select titles in TOKYOPOP’s home video catalogue.

“TOKYOPOP is one of the leading experts on youth entertainment in the United States. We are excited to apply our sales and distribution expertise to expand awareness of their titles and increase the sales of their DVDs throughout the market,” said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment.

Titles licensed to FUNimation include Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO), Marmalade Boy, Initial D and others. FUNimation plans to rework these titles with new packaging, new pricing and new configurations. The first product to release from this agreement is Street Fury Remixed, which will street on June 27 at retailers nationwide.
