Batman: Gotham Knight

Kevin Conroy, the bench mark by which fans compare all Batman voices, returns to the title role in Batman Gotham Knight, the third release in the DC Universe Animated Original Movie series from DC Comics, Warner Premiere, Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Animation, it was announced today. The all-new, original movie will street July 8, 2008 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as OnDemand and Pay-per-View. The film will be available for download on the same date.

Batman Gotham Knight is a fresh and exciting new entry into the Batman mythos, spinning out of a 40-year history in animation including the Emmy®-winning Batman: The Animated Series, widely considered a pivotal moment in American animation. A cross section of distinguished creators, award-winning producers, and acclaimed writers weave six interlocking stories that reveal Bruce Wayne’s journey to The Dark Knight, each with stylish art from some of the world’s most revered animation visionaries.

Conroy set the standard for modern day Batman voices with his performance in Batman: The Animated Series, The New Adventures of Batman and Robin and The New Batman Superman Adventures. He reprised the role as an aging Bruce Wayne playing mentor to a new Caped Crusader in Batman Beyond. Animation legend and Batman Gotham Knight producer Bruce Timm said Conroy was the obvious choice for both widespread fan approval and to provide an overriding sense of continuity within a film in which Batman appears in so many new, visual variations.

“Anytime we initiate an animated Batman project, ‘Will Kevin Conroy voice Batman?’ is the first question we hear from fans,” said Bruce Timm , Executive Producer. “To meet Kevin is to know that he’s not anything like Batman, and yet he manages to perfectly nail that indefinable element that is Batman. He’s got the voice, he’s got the acting chops, and he’s absolutely the best man for the job.”

Conroy provided a central, rallying point for a cast that perfectly meshes stars of some of today’s highest rated primetime television series with many of the most popular voiceover actors in the business. Gary Dourdan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) are heard in multiple segments of the six-story film as police detectives Crispus Allen and Anna Ramirez, key members of a special unit who learn to trust the Dark Knight’s motives. Parminder Nagra (ER, Bend It Like Beckham) supplies the voice of Cassandra, a mystical Indian woman who teaches Bruce Wayne to endure and manage his pain. David McCallum (Navy NCIS, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Great Escape) takes on the role of loyal servant Alfred. George Newbern (Father of the Bride) and Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde) also join the cast.

The cast also features popular voice over artists Corey Burton, Rob Paulsen, Kevin Michael Richardson, Will Friedle, Jason Marsden, Jim Meskimen, Pat Musick, Scott Menville, Hynden Walch, Corey Padnos and Crystal Scales.

Batman Gotham Knight will be available on DVD for $19.98 SRP. There will also be a 2-disc Special Edition DVD available for $29.98 SRP which contains over 100 minutes of bonus features plus 4 bonus episodes. All the content fr m the 2-disc Special Edition DVD will be available on Blu-ray Disc for $34.99 SRP.

Batman Gotham Knight 2-disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc will feature incredible extras including:

“Batman and Me a Devotion of Destiny: The Bob Kane Story” - The comprehensive chronology of the remarkable life of the creator of Batman.

“A Mirror for the Bat: The Evil Denizens of Gotham City” - A stimulating documentary covering Gotham City’s most nefarious of characters, combined with a look into the symbiotic relationship Batman shares with his enemies.

“Batman: The Animated Series” Bonus Episodes - Bruce Timm selects his favorite episodes from Batman: The Animated Series.

Audio Commentary - Featuring the filmmakers of Gotham Knight.

Batman Gotham Knight was headed by an impressive list of directors who have brought their distinctly different anime styles to the classic Batman character. feature-packed fighting action game has sold more than 1.4 million units in
the United States, including more than 874,000 on March 9 alone. It has sold
at a rate of more than 120 units per minute between launch and March 16.

president of Sales & Marketing. “Game reviewers and the public alike praise
its fun game play and extensive, inventive content.”
Super Smash Bros. Brawl features a nearly limitless variety of options for
players. Dozens of classic Nintendo characters like Mario(TM) and Pikachu(R)
are joined by industry icons like Sonic The Hedgehog(TM) and Metal Gear’s
Solid Snake for all-out four-player battles. The endless customization keeps
players coming back for more. The previous game in the series, Super Smash
Bros.(R) Melee, became the best-selling Nintendo GameCube(TM) game of all time
with more than 7 million copies sold worldwide, so it’s no surprise to see
this latest installment racking up record numbers.
“It’s important to remember,” Dunaway said, “that we have lots more fun on
the way: Upcoming titles like Mario Kart(R) Wii and Wii Fit(TM) will keep our
momentum going strong.”
Mario Kart Wii launches April 27 with the Wii Wheel(TM), which lets
players drive their speedy karts with the intuitive feel of a wireless
steering wheel. It’s another “bridge” game like Wii Sports(TM) that lets video
game novices and veterans play and have fun together. Wii Fit arrives May 19
with the Wii Balance Board(TM) to combine fun and fitness. It lets users track
their progress over time, and it’s an easy way for every member of the family
to keep active and play together.

content their children can access. For more information about this and other

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

Are you afraid of the dark? If so, this is a great week to face your fears
with a pair of eerie new game offerings on Nintendo’s Virtual Console™. One
will plunge you deep underground to navigate perilous caves, while the other
puts you on the front lines of a darkly sinister space war. In either case,
your frights will give way to serious fun.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every
Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii
Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop
Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Spelunker™ (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Wander
through miles of uncharted caves in search of the legendary underground
pyramid and its vast treasures. To complete your adventure, you will swing
from ropes and ladders, run across unstable terrain and down ravines, operate
elevators, mining carts and rafts. You will collect keys, bombs, flares,
jewels, sacks of gold coins and other valuable items as you navigate the
hazardous terrain. But beware of the scalding steam vents, poisonous bats and
the avenging spirits of dead spelunkers that lurk in every corner of this
massive underground labyrinth.

SUPER R-TYPE®  (Super NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone — Mild Fantasy
Violence, 800 Wii Points): A galactic battle begins. The BYDO Empire of mutant
extraterrestrials is back with evil intent and awesome power. Now the evil
empire is poised to launch a new attack on Earth. Only the revolutionary R-9,
the planet’s most advanced form of defense, stands between these monsters and
doom. Fight through seven challenging stages—picking up power-up items as you
progress—on the way to each stage’s memorable boss. Is the BYDO Empire
invincible? You’ll need lightning reflexes, intuitive moves and a big dose of
cosmic luck to hold your own. Better prepare yourself, because the mutants “R”
ready for you.

Soon after, Mr. Hidaka made his debut as assistant director in DIRTY PAIR then later as the action director and storyboard artist in the OVA KIKO SENKI DRAGONAR. Upon reflection of his career in animation, Mr. Hidaka states ³I was one of those lucky souls who (was) involved in the production of mecha-anime in the 80¹s and 90¹s when (the) genre was at its prime. Although the trend in today¹s anime is character-oriented, I had been asking myself how I would be able to reassert mecha-anime without compromising marketability. I agreed to work on LINEBARRELS OF IRON because I saw it as the perfect chance to try doing just that. I hope to make a cool mecha-anime but add somewhat cute elements too.²

REDMOND, Wash., March 12 /PRNewswire/ — This year, the typical signs of
spring will be accompanied by the sweet sound of revving engines and the sight
of lightning-fast shells whizzing around every corner. Mario Kart(R) Wii is
zooming toward its launch in the United States on April 27. The game comes
with the intuitive Wii Wheel(TM), which makes it easy for novices to compete
against veterans, so no one is left in the dust. And with a broadband hookup
to Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi Connection, players can compete with up to 11 other
drivers from around the world for racing dominance.

“Mario Kart Wii transforms one of our most popular franchises into a race
that every member of the family can join,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of
America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Driving with the Wii
Wheel could not be more natural, and this is one place where speeding is
encouraged.”
Mario Kart Wii will include 16 new courses and 16 classic courses from
previous Mario Kart games. For the first time ever, players have the option of
racing with either karts or motorbikes. Players can also hit the road as their
personalized Mii(TM) caricatures in addition to the handful of classic
Nintendo characters found in the game. True to the series, the game features
tons of racing, plenty of power-ups and oodles of objects for players to use
to slow down other drivers. And 10 battle arenas will keep players busy
between trips around the circuit.
The easy-to-use Wii Wheel will also be sold as a separate accessory,
giving every driver in the household a chance to get behind his or her own
wheel. And if veteran Mario Kart fans are afraid of getting smoked by rookie
drivers using the Wii Wheel, they can rest assured that Nintendo has them
covered. Mario Kart Wii supports four different control options: Wii
Remote(TM) with or without the Wii Wheel, Wii Remote and Nunchuk(TM)
controller combo, Classic Controller and even the Nintendo GameCube(TM)
controller. So there’s bound to be a configuration that fits everyone’s style.
Mario Kart Wii launches with a new channel added to the Wii Menu to
enhance game play: The Mario Kart Wii Channel. This new channel builds on the
huge online community of Wii owners and lets players compete in tournaments,
check worldwide rankings, see when their friends are playing and download
ghost data.
Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the
content their children can access. For more information about this and other
Wii features, visit Wii.com. For more information about Mario Kart Wii, visit

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

Got enough challenge in your daily routine? Chances are that basic
everyday tasks - getting to work or school on time, walking the dog, taking
out the trash - aren’t enough to keep you firing on all cylinders. Luckily,
Virtual Console(TM) is close at hand to help you test your mettle in fresh and
unusual ways. Whether you’re rescuing a kidnapped pal or mastering a set of
mind-bending grid puzzles, this week’s new arrivals, imported from Japan,
offer a refreshing break from the late-winter blahs.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii(TM) Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time
every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii
Points(TM) to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop
Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure (Super NES(R), 1 player, Rated
E for Everyone - Alcohol Reference and Comic Mischief, 900 Wii Points): This
is an action game where an energetic boy named Milon sets off on a great
adventure in a cute fairy-tale world. Piccolo is a village in the country of
Fantasia. One day, they hear from the fairy Alis that songs and music have
disappeared from the forest. Suddenly, the wizard Amon appears, grabs Alis and
vanishes with her. The brave Milon must now go on a journey to rescue his
kidnapped friend, with his bubble shooter as his only weapon. Along the way,
he’ll need to retrieve five legendary instruments and stars by defeating
Amon’s minions. Get ready to enjoy the fun and comical action of this charming
game.

Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 900
Wii Points): The object of this head-to-head puzzle game is to clear your grid
of falling patterns called puyos by forming chains of four or more same-
colored puyos in a straight line or one of several geometric patterns. What
makes this a challenging two-player contest is the fact that when you clear a
chain of puyos from your grid, it drops a random piece of filler onto your
opponent’s grid. The more puyos you clear, the more you fill your opponent’s
grid, and if you can clutter up his grid enough to fill it to the top, you’ve
won the game. An intriguing backstory makes this an amusing experience for one
or two players.

Although these two young women come from vastly different backgrounds, they quickly become best friends. What sets them apart, however, is the stark difference between their lives. One Nana comes from a small town, following her friends and boyfriend but ultimately looking for her own goal to obtain, while the other Nana has a single-minded aim to make her dream and band, the Black Stones, among the best in Japan.

NANA performed well at the Japanese box office upon its release in 2006, grossing more than 4 billion yen and staying in the Top 10 for several weeks. The main theme from the film, “Glamorous Sky,” took the number 1 spot on Japan’s Oricon charts in its first two weeks of sales and quickly sold over 450,000 copies.
