Studiopolis dubbing DOAX2

A few months ago Team Ninja’s Tomonobu Itagaki mentioned in an interview that they were writing an English dialogue script to adapt Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 for the American audience. Kari Wahlgren‘s recent resume update has named Studiopolis as the dubbing studio along with Kari stating she will playing the roles of Kasumi and Zack’s girlfriend Nikki. Thanks to thedigitalsin for this news item.

This leaves eight more girls to be revealed (all nine DOA4 girls are included) along with who will be playing the role of Zack during the cinema scenes with Nikki. Previously only Zack (played by NBA star Dennis Rodman) and Nikki were voiced in English during the first game’s opening & closing cinematics. The game is currently (and this is Team Ninja we’re talking about here so no doubt adding 3 to 6 months isn’t without reason) slated to release 11/20/06 in the US.

And for those hardcore DOA fans like myself, Tomonobu Itagaki confirmed in his new interview for IGN that the original Japanese track is also being included.

Tomonobu Itagaki: It might be hard to see what I’m getting at since you haven’t played a finished version of the game. In that vein I have one very important announcement to make for the people in the US, and that is that unlike the first game, we’re going to have a full English voice-over. I really think that people are going to leap into the game and get even more involved when the characters are speaking their own language.

IGN: Will there also be Japanese voice-overs with English text, for those hardcore gamers?

Tomonobu Itagaki: Yes, it will have both Japanese and English voice tracks. As always, we don’t have enough space on own disc for what we want to do. But there will be both voice tracks.
