Monster Island shut down

With no upcoming projects announced and long-time engineer/voice director Charles Campbell back working for ADV Studios in Houston, people were speculating that Monster Island, ADV Films‘ secondary dubbing studio, was being shut down as part of the company’s recent corporate restructuring. Today this appears to finally have been confirmed, as AoD forum member Jon Turner received an email from producer/voice director Lowell Bartholomee stating that “today was the last day for Monster Island”.

Located in Austin, Texas, Monster Island debuted in June 1998 with the dub for Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma and went on to work on numerous ADV titles, including Sakura Wars, Nadia, Samurai X and GetBackers.

Wendee Lee in Tenjho Tenge

Ethan Hammond on the anime newsgroup has gotten ahold of an advance copy of Geneon’s Tenjho Tenge release, and reports that Wendee Lee plays the lead character – Maya Natsume.

Nausicaa.net have posted a list of the main English cast for the upcoming Miyazaki film Howl’s Moving Castle:

Unlike the Japanese version, young and old Sophie will be played by different actresses, with the voice for young Sophie yet to be decided.

Additionally, Crispin Freeman has revealed on his Yahoo! Group that he has a “small, but important” role in the film as Prince Turnip.

David Kaye on Battlestar Galactica

David Kaye guest stars in this week’s episode of the new Battlestar Galactica, playing James McManus, a smart mouthed reporter critical to the fleet’s current administration. Also in the episode is series regular Alessandro Juliani (Lt. Gaeta), who played Prince Toma in the second Ranma 1/2 movie.

The episode, Colonial Day, will air on the Scifi Channel, this Friday at 10:00 PM.

Inuyasha production update

Inuyasha producer Toshifumi Yoshida writes in his livejournal that the production of the 3rd movie, Swords of an Honorable Ruler, is coming along, with him due to check the Dolby Digital 5.1 mix on Friday. He also adds that the following week they will be recording episodes 135-139 of the TV series.

Girls Bravo to be dubbed by NGP

Di Gi Charat TV to start recording this week

Shizuki Yamashita of Synch-Point has updated their production blog with news that Di Gi Charat will begin recording this week. Stephanie Sheh has handed over all the ADR scripts for the series and the first eight subtitle scripts. As we previously mentioned, Fusako Shiotani will be directing the original Di Gi Charat TV show.
